The old botanical garden of Barcelona is one of the most hidden and unknown places in the city. It occupies about 4 hectares of an old quarry, of which only 2 can be visited. It hides some surprises, such as some of the tallest and rarest trees in the city, a specimen of Pterocaria, or fossils from ten thousand years ago. Following the path of the garden down, you reach a pond where the landscape is Central European and the atmosphere is very humid. Here the temperature can be about 4 degrees lower than in the city. The garden also consists of a space for growing edible and medicinal plants.
