The International Cycling Union (UCI) has awarded the city the organization of the Mountain Bike Cross Country Eliminator (XCE) World Championship, which will be held on April 18, 2026 in the unique setting of the Font de Montjuïc.

This competition, the most important in this discipline, will decide the World Champion, who will wear the prestigious rainbow jersey of the UCI. The Barcelona circuit, internationally recognized as one of the best in the world, is already one of the regular venues of the XCE World Cup, and is distinguished by its combination of artificial obstacles and urban elements, which guarantee a spectacular race.

The XCE is characterized by its intensity and dynamism: after a qualifying sleeve, riders compete in four-by-four eliminations, where only the two fastest go from round to the grand final, which will crown the best biker on the planet.
