Show “La traiettoria calante”, by Pietro Giannini

Friday Apr 17, 2026 – Sunday Apr 19, 2026 · Teatre Akadèmia

_"I'm seventeen years old. I have to go with my father to the field. It rains in boats and barrels. We are loading our bags in the car. A distant thunder makes us shudder. Suddenly, a cloud of dust rises from the ground. Sirens. Alarms. The Morandi Bridge has just fallen. The phone rings. My mother is calling. He thinks I'm no longer alive.”

This is the starting point of “La traiettoria calante”, a striking work written and performed by the young Genoese actor Pietro Giannini (2000), which starts from the collapse of the Morandi bridge, on August 14, 2018, to build an intimate and collective story at the same time. The collapse of the main artery of Genoa triggers a domino effect that crosses people, houses, memories.

On the stage, there is only one body, a single witness who, like a contemporary Hamlet, inhabits the ruins of the disaster haunted by the ghosts of the absent. The scene is naked, stripped of everything, with no reconstruction possible. Only the witness remains: the word that, despite its emptiness and absence, struggles to make light.

In this intense and revealing monologue, Giannini weaves personal memories, real-life interviews and evocative fragments of a devastated but dignified city, building a living tribute to Genoese memory and resistance. The piece, premiered nationally in 2024 at the REF — Anni luce festival, was presented as the first studio in the 2023 edition of Powered by REF.
