Exhibition 'André Ricard. Design in use'

Wednesday Oct 28, 2026 – Sunday Mar 14, 2027 · Disseny Hub Barcelona

Andre Ricard. Design in use is a tribute to one of the most relevant and pioneering figures of contemporary design, an indisputable reference and a key voice in the projection and defense of home-made design. The exhibition claims a trajectory marked by the desire to influence everyday life through objects designed to be used, understood as tools at the service of people and society.

The exhibition proposes a double reading that allows us to approach Ricard's work from different layers. On the one hand, it presents a selection of emblematic objects, conceived as timeless pieces, integrated into everyday contexts that highlight their functionality, formal clarity and validity. On the other hand, the exhibition invites to delve into the principles and values that have guided his professional practice, as well as his work as a theorist, disseminator and promoter of Catalan and Spanish design, a role that is often less visible but fundamental to understanding his legacy.

With a didactic and informative approach, but also open to reflection, André Ricard. Design in use presents design as a committed discipline, closely linked to use, social responsibility and critical thinking. Far from passing fashions or trends, the exhibition emphasizes a way of understanding design based on coherence, ethics and public service, and invites us to rethink the role of the designer in the contemporary world.
