Catalan mythology is a rich source of narratives and characters, although for many years it has remained in the background, eclipsed by other mythologies such as Norse and Celtic. In fact, contemporary authors of the fantastic genre are finding inspiration in the stories of oral transmission from all over the Catalan territory to write new stories and to reinterpret this imaginary.

In the core exhibition of the fifth edition of Festival 42 you will find fifteen of the most popular and rooted characters of Catalan folklore, with the characteristics that link them in the global literary framework. From Juan de l'Os, which brings us closer to American superhero fictions, to Legends of the Serpent, which remind us Dragon Ball, passing through the constellation swords, which link us with the stories of theArthurian Cycle.

All this, through the illustrations of Laia Baldevey, curator of the exhibition and expert in capturing mythology in images. Among his works stand out Mythology of the Catalan Countries and Mythology of the Montserrat Mountain. The proposal also includes material from the Catalan bestiary, donated by popular culture entities.
