In previous sessions of Aires Poètics we have talked about the translation of poetry, how to put it to music, and we have heard many and many poets, as well as people who read poetry. But what is behind the editorial decision to open a poetry collection? What drives a publisher to embark on this adventure? What selection criteria follow to take the risk of publishing a book of poems? And why do we find so few books of poetry for Sant Jordi? Who buys poetry books? Godall Editions
Godall Edicions is a publishing house named after a town in Montsià. Our logo is an olive tree (the village of Godall lives from its cultivation) which is an absolutely Mediterranean tree, stubborn, tenacious and centuries-old (even millenary) and has mythical and poetic evocations. We publish mostly in Catalan and also in Spanish. We have three collections: poetry, narrative and graphic narrative. We also have some books out of collection. Our motto is: “Until you've read it, a book is always a novelty.” We have the modest ambition to publish books that do not go out of fashion, books by authors and authors who are little known or by authors and forgotten authors.
