Concert "Branford Marsalis Quartet & Dianne Reeves celebrate John Coltrane"

Tuesday Nov 3, 2026 · Palau de la Música Catalana

The celebration of the centenary of John Coltrane, born on September 23, 1926, is the starting point for the meeting of two of the most iconic jazz figures of our day: Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves. Saxophonist and vocalist have taken as a reference a very special recording from Coltrane's discography, which he co-starred with vocalist Johnny Hartman (1963). It is certainly not one of the saxophonist's canonical records such as A Love Supreme, but it is the undisputed soundtrack of many people who have rallied more than once listening to the tenderness of Hartman's voice alongside Coltrane. The challenge for Dianne Reeves and the Branford Marsalis quartet (with Joey Calderazzo, Eric Revis and Justin Faulkner) is therefore huge, and will also have a translation on an album due to appear on Blue Note this fall. Barcelona is also the only Iberian date and the start of the European tour of this project.
